About Samuel Vitman
Born and raised in the Charleston area of South Carolina, my surroundings taught me so much of what it means to be an artist. From the beautiful beaches and ocean, to the historical buildings and palmetto trees, art has always been around. Whether it was through paintings, poetry, music, or food, the arts have always been in my life in many versatile ways. When I started painting, using mostly acrylic on canvas, it felt natural to me, like I was doing what Iām truly supposed to be. It feels like the opportunities are endless on what one can accomplish on a canvas. When I first started painting, my main goal was to find my own style and express myself through it, so I decided to look within myself. With ancestral roots deriving from places like France, Bermuda, and Eurasia, I found myself researching these places and incorporating traditional styles and patterns into my artwork, helping me create the art you see now. Hearing and listening to stories told by the people around me, surfing, and being a farm hand have also helped me gain inspiration for topics, patterns, and the vibrant colors in my work. No matter what style of art it is, I believe creating, creating, and more creating is the key to finding passion and originality.
